Observed field size distributions

Observed field size distributions for oil and gas discovered in the Frio Strand Plain exploration play, onshore Texas, through three time periods; 1960, 1970, and 1985. Each of the three discovery segments is lognormal with the mode shifting to smaller field sizes with time. The distribution traces a fractal or power-law curve with time (data from Drew, 1990). mmBOE is millions of barrels of oil equivalent.
