The Kentucky Geological Survey, through USGS funding of agreement G10AC00465, has converted Kentucky Division of Mine Permits’ scanned, georeferenced images of mine permit areas to vector GIS format. Attribution includes permit numbers that relate to the State regulatory program. In 2011, the project was turned over to the Kentucky Division of Mine Permits for incorporation into their workflow to continue to add new permit boundaries to the database. The geodatabase was published to the KyGeonet, a GIS data repository for the State of Kentucky that can be accessed at: http://kygisserver.ky.gov/geoportal/catalog/main/home.page
